When Your Marriage Could Use Redemption

Most weeks I like to try and share a featured post from the previous linkup, and there were some great posts! As I thought about which one to share, though, the Lord kept impressing a particular post on my heart, and so I’m coming back to that this week…and it scares me a little.

While this blog is to share my thoughts and my journey, it can be hard at times because it’s not an easy journey. It’s almost easier to share others’ stories because I can “hide” behind their story. But God’s been calling me out of my comfort zone and gently pushing me to continue sharing my story.

I recently re-wrote what could be referred to as the “start here” page. It’s that one up at the top that says

REDEMPTION IN MARRIAGE – IS IT POSSIBLE?

Does anyone even stay in their marriage when things go wrong? Is redemption in marriage even possible?

It’s easy to find posts and support for things like connecting with your spouse, keeping the spark alive, helping your marriage grow after you’ve had kids. It’s easy to write about the happy times, even some of the crazy times when schedules overwhelm, jobs pull us in various directions, kids keep us up all night, house repairs drive us nuts, temptation threatens.

But what about when you’re eyeballs-deep in the muck and mire and you’re flailing your arms, wondering where the support is from people who actually know the truly tough stuff of marriage? What about when temptation becomes reality? Where are the people who know what happens when life goes wrong and your marriage becomes something you can biblically walk away from?

Where are they?

Well, I think many are on their own. I think a lot of them did walk away from their marriage, and probably for very good reason. It’s very hard to endure a tragedy in what’s supposed to be your most secure relationship.

When I went looking for support, I had a hard time finding too many resources from people who were in the thick of it. That’s what keeps bringing me back here to share with you, even when I’d rather hide behind someone else’s story.

You can read the post in its entirety here: Redemption in Marriage – is it even possible?
