Ask for Forgiveness

You may have seen this quote before:

“The first to apologize is the bravest. The first to forgive is the strongest. And the first to forget is the happiest.”

– Unknown

I often struggle with forgiveness. There, I said it. This quote often comes to mind when I’m trying to summon up the strength (and courage!) to forgive.

This month at Managing Your Blessings, we’re talking about walking in love. It seems like such an easy idea, especially since we surround ourselves with people we love and get along with. But if you’re like me, even with your circle of loved ones around you, you stumble and end up in a spat with someone, and those feelings of walking in love quickly escape. And sadly, if you’re anything like me, you spend some time waiting for the other person to ask for forgiveness.

  • Sounds so familiar to me. Forgiveness is a decision that takes all of your being to make. But when you have achieved it, life’s definitely better.

It’s so true. Forgiveness gives us the opportunity to let go of the stress that we bring upon ourselves as we harbor the frustration. Blessings, friend!

  • You’d never think something so (seemingly) small would be so, so hard for all of us. Our flesh is such a strong pull – thank goodness for “redemption” 🙂 I have 1 family member that I’m constantly waiting on the other shoe to drop with. I don’t know that I’ll ever understand the dynamic, but the more we forgive one another, the more we see God’s forgiveness for us.

    Thanks for the reminder, friend!
